Art for the Universe

20141215-063049.jpg

If you are driving between Island Park, ID and Ennis, MT keep a look out for art. This weekend I was in Jackson Hole to sketch . I made one small pastel on the trip.

The drive into Ennis was blustery and the landscape moody. I rolled down the passenger window to take a picture while driving (shhhh…) and that’s when I lost it. That pastel drawing was sucked right out the window !

A gift back to the landscape, I guess.

All that’s left of it is this one quick photo taken with my phone .

Honor the Universe.

Ursa Major

Inspirations seem to arrive in an instant. A different way of seeing the World appears to come overnight. In truth our subconscious works through the transformation until it surfaces in our conscious state of mind.

The Big Bear is always with us, her home is in the wilderness.

This new work, presence of my Sea Change is part of a Trio. The others will be arriving here soon.

I know, I know. I have seen those videos on Facebook, too. But I promise you don’t look like them with the booties on. And you even wore them once before when you were much younger and it was super cold outside, like today. You want to go skiing, right? OK! Lets go….

“Really?” she says, “these don’t fit so well. And the snow is collecting around the ankle. And they kinda’ hurt…..How about if I just lay here in the snow and wait for you to come back this way?”

photo 3-2Lesson Learned: Give up those boots. Run wild in the snow. If its too cold outside wait for it to warm up first.

Sea Change

drawn from the river

drawn from the river

It’s time. Time to consider direction and conception, where we are headed, and how we do what we do.

“Full Fathom five thy father lies,

Of his bones are coral made,

Those are pearls that were his eyes,

Nothing of him that doth fade,

But doth suffer a sea-change,

into something rich and strange,

Sea-nymphs hourly ring his knell,

Ding-dong.

Hark! now I hear them, ding-dong, bell.”
